In order to become a video game tester, you must meet at least three requirements, if you can't reach these three requirements, you're just simply not going to make it as a video game tester.
What you need to become a video game tester
- You need to have a passion for playing games. Without a passion for playing games, you're not going to make it in the testing industry. By simply enjoying just one kind of game, like an RPG, isn't going to cut it. You need to love all types of games if you want to excel in this job. You must love playing them, no matter what genre or what kind of gameplay it is. You need to have a passion! If you don't, then you might as well just get a regular job like everyone else.
- You have to play games regularly. You need to play them often. Companies love employees who have real skills in the industry. When you play games often, it's easier for you to adapt to new games that the company wants you to test. The gaming companies love people who can adapt fast like this!
- Finally, you have to be up to date with video games. You have to be playing the newest and hottest video games on the market! If you don't do this, you're not going to know how games should be made to fulfill the common gamers needs. That means that you need to be up to date with your game playing! Don't think that just because you enjoy playing final fantasy 1-5 but have no idea what gears of wars is, you're not going to succeed in this industry.
The gaming industry is filled with video game testing competition, and if you want to succeed and get paid to play video games, than you need to be able to meet these requirements.
