Simple But Powerful Poker Techniques

There are some basic rules that you need to follow while playing with the game of poker. Usually players who are experts at playing poker don't make decisions in haste. They instead act as crooks and play a safe game while using the poker chips. They won't play a speedy game but will act wisely and play a slow game thus taking decisions that are slow but will indeed help them in the long run.
Do not expect luck to favor you in the initial stages of the game. You have to help yourself and have to be smart enough to take your own decisions in the start. Do not simply put money in the pot unless you're 100 percent sure that you are the one who's going to win the hand. Remember that you have to be very shrewd during this part of the game and your foolishness can lead you to loss. If you think you are going to loose then don't waste your money in that.
Do not have pride while you are playing the game at the poker tables because being aggressive and developing rivalries while you play can lead to a disaster, that is you will erode your own cash. Be humble and have a friendly nature that is pleasing. In this way you will save as well as collect some money too. One has to even pretend to be calm and cool at the poker tables.

How to Customize Your Bingo Chips

You have been to different casinos for many times. But have you ever paid attention to the chips? Actually, there are different kinds of chips in different casinos, even on different tables. They are in different colors, sizes, materials, functions and so on. If I ask you a question what your favourite chips are, you may feel a little puzzled.
In many countries, different colours have different meanings. For example, Chinese people like red because red stands for good luck and victory. But western people hate red because red seems a little fierce. Therefore, when you are in a casino and are likely to bet, it is important for you to choose the right colour of chips. Perhaps your favourite colour chips can not help you win according to science. But mentally, your favourite colour can make you happy and released while you are betting. It really can help you do better in gambling.
What's more, there are different shapes of chips. Do you like the round one best? Or the oblong one? Even the triangle one? Most people feel that heavy chips stand for expensive chips. Actually, many manufacturers are more likely to design different kinds of chips due to different denimination because there is psychological hint for gambling people.

What to Do If You Know Your Kid Has An Online Game Addiction

Perhaps you have noticed that your child has spent a lot of time playing games recently. Maybe he has found some new, cool games online and he just can't seem to stop. At what point do you wonder if your child has an online game addiction?
Video games have become a major part in the lives of our youth. Since our children have more free time to spend playing games, they often find the virtual worlds easier to live in than the real thing. Some children are more than happy to isolate themselves from friends and family to get to the next level or meet some new challenge in a game.
At some point their gaming achievements may become more important to them than the things that are going on in the real world. With the arrival of massive multiplayer online role-playing games, the problem is becoming more acute. According to the Council on Science and Public Health in 2005, gamers that spend more than two hours per day are defined as gaming too much. This is citing the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines that no child should have more than two hours of screen time per day.
According to Dr. Maressa Hecht Orzack, around 40% of the players of World of Warcraft are suffering from some sort of online games addiction. In a 2006 lecture, 12% of online gamers that were polled reported they had some form of addictive behaviors.

What are the top three essential traits of successful video game designers? With an expected growth of over 17%, there's never been a better time to consider a career in a design-related profession, such as a video game designer. Obviously more and more people will look into the field of video game production for their future careers, and they will start by earning a degree or certificate in game production, design or programming.
But how do you know if you have what it takes to succeed in the demanding, yet rewarding gaming and entertainment industry?
In order to be a top, successful video game designer, what does it take? Surely there is more to it than simply being someone who plays a lot of games. Yes, there are three very specific traits of the best designers. These characteristics are what separate good designers from the best. What are the top three traits of great video game designers?

How Do I Connect Headphones To My TV?

What really stinks is when you are so involved in your game and you hear those magic words coming from the next room. You want any type of noise cancelling headphones to just end this madness. "Turn that off cause I'm trying to sleep!" One can really add any angered quote here because they all lead to the same end. "How do I shut them up by shutting this thing up?"
You've done everything right, you've taken out the trash, put the kids to bed, watched a chick flick or anything else that fits and yet you still can't win. Wait, you got the kids up and fed, packed their lunch, sent them off to school, got them off the bus, made dinner, gave them their bath and put them to bed. Wow, you work harder than I thought! You might need noise cancelling headphones too. Anyways, both of your days were tough!
Television sets, both modern and ones from our parents days didn't come equipped with a headphone jack. Those older sets were designed with a set of built-in stereo speakers (and sometimes a single mono speaker),yes, they did!..But while newer digital sets are typically set up for home theater, which involves connecting the TV to a receiver and Surround Sound speakers, they are pre-determined. But sometimes, a viewer just wants to listen privately while watching a program. The solution is to adapt the TV's audio outputs into a mini-jack for connecting a set of headphones.
Things you'll need to do this:
... TV
... Y-adapter with stereo plugs on one end and a mini-jack on the other, available at electronics stores.
... Headphones
Here is what to do:

The Various Steps And Procedures of Making A Video Game

Whether you are into video games for the sheer thrill of it or developing a keen interest about the designing process, you must have surely wondered at some point about the exact procedures that are involved in creating these products. Video game designing is one of the most interesting technologies in today's time which is why this whole field has also emerged as the most sought after career choice amongst today's generation.
The Step By Step Process of Game Designing:
• Conceptualization - The first step in the development of any game starts with its conceptual part. Much before a video game is programmed the concept is actually put down on paper. The basic theme is brainstormed and developed by a group of creative designers who work in a team to visualize a rough sketch of the characters and the focal features of the game.
• Characterization - Once the basic theme is conceptualized, it is passed onto animation experts who translate the personality and features of the characters into 3D versions. A lot of graphic designing work is involved in this process during which each and every feature, movement and gesture of the characters are sketched out, sculpted or video captured from real life models to get all the animation elements perfectly accurate and as real as possible.

Cloud Gaming and the Future of Video Games

The early days of video gaming, of Pong and Pac-Man, are long gone. video game companies now offer games with impeccable graphics and wide-ranging storylines and playing options. Consoles are now able to recognise the movements of the player and use them in the game. Games are moving ever further away from linear playing styles and give players a great deal of choice about how they want to play the game. One of the more recent developments in the gaming world is the advent of cloud gaming. A great deal of recent technology news has focused on this and what it might mean for the video game industry. But what actually is cloud gaming? And what are the potential advantages and disadvantages of this new method of playing video games?
Cloud gaming is a form of online gaming that utilises cloud hosting in order to work. You may already play a number of multiplayer games online through your computer's internet connection or through Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. However, this still involves owning a physical copy of the game and a console to play it on. The difference with cloud gaming is that the game itself and the processing power needed to play it is all hosted in 'the cloud'. In order to use it, all you need is an internet connection and cloud gaming service. The games are directly streamed onto your computer, tablet or console and the powerful servers used by the cloud gaming provider will carry out all the rendering and processing necessary. Your button presses are sent to the cloud, which processes the information and sends back the game's response. It is essentially very similar to the video-on-demand services on offer, such as 4oD or iPlayer, but for games. You do not have to own a physical copy of the game in order to play on it.
Cloud gaming does have a number of important advantages. It is instant, you do not have to go out and buy a physical copy of the game nor do you have to spend time downloading it. The game is already there and instantly playable through your internet connection. It also reduces the need for computers with high processing and graphical capabilities.

How to Avoid Getting Tired While Playing Online Games

Sometimes you just need to game. Playing online games is fun, that's why you do it. On occasion you might have one reason or another to stay up later than usual to do a certain goal in an online game. Maybe you're trying to level up, or beat a quest, or make it through a certain round. Or maybe you just found a website absolutely full of really cool games online. Regardless of your reasons, it can take a little more than the rush of gaming to keep you awake to do your goals. Luckily, there are some ways you can avoid getting tired while playing online games. These are tips that go beyond just power slamming some energy drinks. With caffeine there is an eventual crash, and usually a hard one; hopefully the methods introduced to you here will avoid that to a point. These are methods of staying awake that stimulate you more naturally and not artificially.
Something a lot of people underestimate is the power smell has over our bodies. You can actually use your sense of smell to avoid getting tired while playing online video games. Taking a quick sniff of a strong smell can shock you awake. Sometimes burning incense of energizing aroma in addition to some of the other tips that will be mentioned in this article can help make a more desired result. Smells like Eucalyptus Blue Gum, Peppermint, Pine Oil, Coffee, and Rosemary can help stimulate your body and keep you awake and energized for longer. Worst-case scenario, if you can't find any of those things to sniff around the house you can take a light sniff of pepper powder. Make sure you do this cautiously if you're going to, everyone knows what happens if you snort up pepper. It gets sort of difficult to play cool games online if you can't stop sneezing.

Gaming After Baby - Can You Ever Get It Back?

I would definitely call myself a geek. After years of playing World of Warcraft and religiously watching any sci-fi series that graces our screens, as well as building computers and repeatedly Googling when the latest DLC is going to be released for whatever XBox game I am currently addicted to, I most certainly wouldn't call myself anything else. That is- until I became a mum.
Truly though, the crux of my geek-dom lies in gaming. I'm not particularly specialised in any one genre, whether an FPS God or an End-Game Content raiding genius, but I wholeheartedly love gaming and the world that surrounds it.
The problem with this being my passion is that it is very hard to maintain when you find that you have procured a shiny new addition to your family. Don't get me wrong, being a mum has been the single most important achievement of my life and I will certainly never regret it, but when you become a parent there is a repercussive chain-reaction which changes everything!
The thing that gets you first is the sleep, or rather lack thereof. Pre-baby I would quite happily stay up until 2/3am trying to down that last boss on my guild's 25-man run or, for that matter, queue up outside GAME for the midnight release of the new WoW expansion; bags loaded with caffeine with the intention of not sleeping for several days whilst I desperately battle against everyone else for an elusive 'realm first'.
However, sleep is the now most precious commodity in the world as far as I'm concerned. Due to the unpredictability of a baby's sleep (especially in the early days), you sometimes end up rather sleep-deprived and so when those rare moments of alone-time crop up and you have the choice between a quick game on something, or to crash and enjoy every sacred second of blissful shut-eye that you can, the choice is always going to be the latter.

Set the Game on Extreme Action With a Gaming Chair

If pumping high doses of adrenaline and numbing your fingers comes in the package, so do gaming chairs for people who have their minds set on video games. If you're looking for a gaming chair, you should know that it is one of the most top-notch additions to the living room as it is often versatile, blending in with any interior design or decor-it is also the greatest aid for any committed player, as it acts as a dock for CDs and DVDs, as well as with headphone jacks and other ports which can be needed for gaming. The head and neck rest, extendable leg support and other emphasis on comfort (since gamers are likely to gawk the screen for long hours in the same posture) are contributing factors, and the epitome of it all-the sounds and the vibrations which are a normal course of a video game can be heard and experienced through the chair, are the winning strike. They definitely are indulgence redefined.

Produce Custom Playing Cards In A Cost Effective Manner

There are several ways in which you can make the process of producing custom playing cards considerably more cost-effective. Brand building and advertising are facilitated with the help of these cards, which explains why many businessmen and owners of casinos opt to produce them. You can also have the custom cards produced as part of a wider product marketing and promotional campaign.
After manufacturing these cards in large numbers, it is now time for the decks of cards to be distributed to the target market, in order to gain a wider audience. There are a number of reasons why people come up with this. Whatever your reason is, expect that you will spend quite a lot of money in making them. That explains the inclination of many people to look into many cost-effective means of producing these cards. And as we said, there are three ways in which you can do just that: make the process of producing the customized playing cards considerably more cost-effective. First, it would be much cheaper for you as the producer of it if you do it in-house.
The only way you can do this is to have your own machine to create them. Consider some intervening factors if you want to know whether you made the correct decision or not in your overall strategy. This would, of course, depend on the frequency of how you go about the process of creating these playing cards. If, for instance, you find yourself having to produce the customized playing cards almost every other week, you may run numbers only to realize that you can save substantial sums of money by getting the cards produced in-house.

Does a Rubik's Cube Make Your Kids Smart?

Every parent would want his child to have the best education possible. For most parents, good education spells future success for their children. Introducing kids to play as a way of learning can rouse their interest in the alphabet, numbers, colors, animals, and others things. Exposing children to education at an early age will activate their hidden talents and help propel them to future success.
Books are good tools for learning. However, kids can sometimes find books rather boring that after they finish reading it, they just place it inside the shelf to accumulate dust, never to be read again. There is one toy however, which only costs a few dollars, but engages kids to think-not just plain thinking, but analyzing.
The Rubik's Cube was designed by Erno Rubik in 1974 as a device to help young students learn and understand three-dimensional geometry. Little did he know that his little cube would soon become the world's best-selling toy; 35 million pieces having been sold since the start of its mass production. The Rubik's Cube is a cube with different colors on every flat surface. It is a game of algorithm and logic. The idea is to make each surface of the cube a solid color. This part is the most extremely challenging. A standard Rubik's Cube measuring 3X3 can present 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 possible scenarios, but there is ultimately one solution for all these scenarios.

Multi Player Games - Enjoying The Gaming Experience With Others

A game, which is generally played by two or more players, is known as a multi player game. The player may be playing individually with another player as an opponent or may form teams to play against each other. Theoretically speaking, it is quite difficult to analyze many independent players playing in a single multi player game as it may result in coalitions.
Keeping in mind that the coalitions between players are actually not allowed, John Nash had proved that a stable solution can be provided in games with several players. Nobel prize was also awarded to him for economics for the extension of Von Neumann's theory of zero sum games. This stable strategy provided by him is known as Nash equilibrium. The situation becomes more complex if the cooperation among the players is allowed. The theories provided by Nash have certainly some impact in the field of economics, politics etc.
It has been found that, with the advent of the quantum information into the quantum game theory, a new horizon has been opened for the multi player games. It has been allowing a new type of equilibrium strategy which is generally not available in the traditional games. According to this strategy, the contract or the amount of money that is kept as a bet, mainly in card games, can be affected by the player's choices but the player is not allowed to make any sort of profit by means of betrayal.

GMing Tips for Pen and Paper RPG's

There are a couple of ways you can GM a Pen and Paper RPG.
Prepared Adventures
A prepared adventure is one where everything has been worked out already. Usually down to the sequence of encounters the characters will experience, the events they will go through and how it will end.
It makes it a simple progression usually. No matter what the players do, they will pretty much always end up following your adventure's series of steps. And that works fine much of the time.
The great advantage of a prepared adventure is that everything is already set up for you. You have no mysteries and nothing that hasn't been worked out in advance. You're not going to wonder "what do I do now?"
But there are a couple of problems with the prepared adventure.
The main problem is that there is no real self determinism of the players. No matter what they do, the outcome will basically remain the same. The only choices they truly have are how to overcome what has been put up against them.
But if you've ever run a game before, you'll realise that players never do what you expect them to do. And that quite often leaves the adventure seeming a little off balance. The monsters are still waiting in a certain room, even though logically they would definitely have heard that the players were there, and probably either hidden or come looking for them!
That brings us to our second type of adventure:

Will Fire Fists Reach Tier 1 Status?

On Jan 25th we will have 3 new fire attribute decks to test against the meta. They are the Fire King monsters, Fire Fist archetype, and Haze Beast archetype. In this article I will be covering the Fire Fist or known in the OCG as Fire Star monsters. The deck itself is a whole new concept to the game. All the monsters in the fire star deck have effects where they can set spell and trap cards directly from the deck to the field. Something that has never been done yet in Yu-Gi-Oh. Now how is this deck gonna weigh against Wind-ups, Hieratics, Inzektors, Chaos Dragons and Dino Rabbit.
First Match-up is Dino Rabbit vs Fire Fist. This game was pretty frustrating. I went first in this round and I felt like the entire game was a constant struggle. Negating left and right, so annoying, Laggia beat the hell out of me so much while testing. Fire Fists are powerless against Dino Rabbit unless your opponent has a killer hand or you have a mean side deck. Dino Rabbit has the clear advantage.
Second match-up was Fire Fist vs Hieratics. I didn't spend too much time on this one because I felt that fire fists had a clear advantage. As long as you stop them from going off during the first turn you are guaranteed the win. These monsters rule the Damage Step, Hieratics set up for a big OTK and if they cant get over 1 of your monsters you pretty much have the game sown.
Now this match-up was hard to place a clear winner which was surprising because I thought Wind-ups would be clearly on top. Wind-ups won most of the games I played but at the same time I could help but shake the fact that Fire Fists were better. As soon as I sided mind crushes I dominated Wind-ups.

Why RC Games Are So Popular?

Technology moves constantly forward and now it is integrated into many industries. Indeed, even toys had become more "intelligent", advanced and people are interested to create, develop and buy them. It is a common thing today to see adults buying remote control helicopters, monster trucks, tanks or sports cars. "What's so strange about it?" you may ask. Well, the thing is that it is very strange to see an adult playing around with a toy car as they're designed for children of 4-7. And, when people see an adult crawling around the house or backyard with it, they could think that he/she is a weird one.
When you'll have a walk in a mall next time, try visiting toys section and you'll definitely see that many people really like radio controlled toys. That's right, such toys are no longer just for kids and they are adored by people of different ages: from teens to twenties and even forties.

Games Testers

The video game industry is one of the highest grossing industries on the planet, with an estimated worth of around $74 Billion. Game Manufacturers are always looking for new ways to better their product that they produce for the public. The best way for them to do that is to have games testers testing their games before releasing them to the general public. If you have a passion for playing games and are looking to make an extremely decent income from doing something you are passionate about then keep reading.
You might be wondering what I am rambling on about, I myself am a video games tester and have made a career from doing something I truly love doing and I am going to share with you how I got started and what it is all about.
What are video games testers? Someone who tests games in their 'beta' stage; basically before they are released for general use. But where are the agencies? Such agencies have worked hard to become trusted by the Games Manufacturers and their main role is to introduce potential Video Games Testers. It is important to point out here that Video Games Testers start off at the same level, but only with experience and feedback can the tester grow in stature, reliability and effectiveness to command a full time career.

Console Vs PC Gaming

Gaming has been a part of our culture for an extremely long time. Whether you're a casual gamer, who doesn't like all the competition of most games, or you're a hardcore gamer who enjoys games like Halo, Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty. There have been two platforms for gaming. Consoles and PC. Both are extremely different and many people have their own opinion on which is better. Well lets compare the pros and cons together shall we?
Lets start with PC gaming. PC gaming is huge. Over 4 million people are constantly online on Steam so there are a lot of PC gamers. PC games are also much cheaper. Normally a higher quality game is only $50 while on console they are $60. Not only that there are a lot of exclusive games only on PC. Most of these exclusives are only around $20 while delivering quality normally only seen in triple A titles. PC games also have more value then their console counter-parts. Most games have player made modifications that add hours of content to a game. It could be anything from more weapons to an entire side story added onto the game. Older games also tend to get a new paint job over time as players create graphic mods that enhance the graphics of the game to make it look more modern. PC gaming also tends to have a better experience. Take Battlefield 3 for example. I personally have Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 and it's a blast with friends, but when I play it on PC it's amazing. There is constant action which is sometimes lacking from the console version. You also have a ton of free to play games on PC. Recently Planetside 2 was released for PC. It follows up on the previous game giving players a map that makes Battlefield 3 a joke and delivering amazing quality that PC is also cost efficient, because it costs about the same as a normal home computer plus a console. In fact if you can jump on a sale for computer parts or a website that builds gaming PCs you can get one for about $700 or less! That's a lot cheaper than buying a home computer and a console since the average home computer costs about $600 and a console is about $200 or more. You're saving money already!

The Advantages of Using a Bluetooth Gaming Headset

With today's video game titles, it's common to have many players part of the game. Whether this is Xbox live, popular PC titles, the Play station network, or others. Being able to communicate with other players is extremely important. That is why most will choose a Bluetooth gaming headset. While most wireless headsets will do the job of picking up your voice for other players to hear, some prefer to use a Bluetooth gaming headset because of the advantages that it tends to offer over other types. Find out what these are and why they are useful.
First of all, a Bluetooth gaming headset is not going to have all the extra cords that tend to get in the way or the problem of having cords that are too short. Thus, a Bluetooth headset uses a wireless technology that doesn't require cords. This is helpful when playing so that other people in the room won't trip over their own cords and won't get in the way of the keyboard or mouse when on a computer. This alone makes a Bluetooth headset worth the extra money.

Whats The Point of Games?

Games are a tool to help the brain complete tasks in a more enjoyable way. Some tasks include Fun and Development. Fun doesn't seem like a task but it is necessary for the brain to "reset" from the stressors in your life. Games provide a distraction that lets you forget about the bad things in your life for some time. However too much can be bad because you lose sight of the reality around you. Games are only supposed to be used in limited quantities.
Development can occur when playing the right kind of games. Shooter games will probably not give you much other than enjoyment but a good strategy or puzzle game that gets your mind thinking will help significantly more. There are websites that specifically design games to target certain aspects of the brain to enhance their functionality. Sometimes games can be social, such as MMORPGs, board games, or playing pretend. Playing games are vital to younger children.

Video Game Testers - Why Game Developers Need Them

Why Video Game Testers Are Needed
All gamers know that when a new video game is presented they can expect to find some errors in the game. This is pretty common and there is a logical explanation for that. Game developers are not automatically gamers.
They create the beta game and test it the best way they can, but they don't fill all the gaps. Their thoughts are fixed on creating a successful product that has to satisfy the customer. This doesn't make them ideal beta testers.
Gamers have their own way of thinking and so they perceive gaming in their own, non-economical way, except for the purchasing price of course. This creates the need for developers to find and fix errors where their own personnel can't. Players find the most glitches in a game, that is just a hard proven fact.
How Gaming Testers Jobs Came to Be
When you visit a regular forum you can find a lot of posts of players reporting flaws. Other gamers post in the same topic until the place becomes a hot spot with the hope the game developers will do something about it. Sometimes it gets really ugly in those forums and because of that the game developers lose reputation and with that some profits too.
Paint yourself a picture here. When players find an error in a game, they get irritated. Not only do they get irritated, they talk about it to other gamers, friends and acquaintances. If these people were considering to buy the product, guess what?
Most of them don't want to buy until the problem is fixed.

The Video Game Console Culture of Today

Video games are now at or near the top of entertainment options among the younger generation, and the older crowd really enjoys them as well. The graphics on these games have become so realistic that playing games is almost like living through a movie. Video games have that kind of pull these days. The popular games like Red Dead Redemption, Starcraft 2 and Warcraft are perfect examples of how gaming and gaming consoles have evolved. It is no longer about simply putting out an addictive game - now the game must be addictive and spectacular visually. Anything less than this is not going to be good enough in today's gaming world.
There are many different gaming consoles on the market today, and the most popular are PlayStation 3, X-box 360 and the Wii. They all are miles ahead of the older gaming consoles that were popular years ago. From the Atari all the way through the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Dreamcast, Nintendo and many others, game consoles have taken a huge leap ahead.
The Wii game console is like nothing we have ever been able to enjoy before. You get to actually act out the game as you play, and the game responds to that movement. Many people never thought that this type of gaming interaction would be possible, but it is available for a mere pittance to every gamer. It is amazing that we can now play gaming technology for pennies on the dollar when this same technology was worth thousands only a few short years ago. There was a time when these systems would have cost 100 times what they do today.

Getting Serious About Serious Games

Serious games, estimated to be a US$1.5 - $9 billion global market in 2008, are being described by some analysts as the next wave of technology-mediated learning. A serious game, SG, may be a simulation which has the look and feel of a game, but corresponds to non-game events or processes, including business opportunities or operations.
SG's are intended to provide an engaging, self-reinforcing online experience designed to motivate and educate the player. Other purposes for such games include marketing and advertisement.
The largest users of SGs are the educational institutions, government and medical professionals. Other commercial sectors, especially those challenged to communicate a strong business case for action, are actively pursuing development of these types of tools as well.
What makes a game "serious" as opposed to one played for fun is serious games are focused on specific and intentional learning outcomes to achieve a measurable change in performance and behavior. It is not centered on entertainment or better performance in the game, but rather serious games influence and inform behaviors outside of the game experience.

Did You Know Video Games Can Heal the Sick?

Games both video and computer have been for years looked down on as evil and a negative influence on society. However, recent research indicates that games play a significant role in healing. Studies indicate that playing games helps divert a patient's mind from pain and for many patients, games are a form of physiotherapy as they exercise the fingers and muscles of the arms and oil the wheels of the mind. In fact, children suffering from autism learn a great many social skills from games they play.
Mark Griffiths, of Nottingham Trent University, has conducted in depth studies on gaming and found that "gaming can be a useful tool in healthcare, games can distract kids and adults undergoing painful treatments." In fact children undergoing chemotherapy for diseases like sickle cell anemia deal with the disease better when they play games that absorb their attention completely. Sick children who occupied their minds playing video or computer games required lower doses of pain medication and tended to suffer less from hypertension and nausea than children who were asked to just rest. According to Griffiths an expert in the field, games benefit children suffering from attention deficit disorders too.
A conference on gaming showcased the fact that computer and video games promoted awareness in nutrition, lifestyle choices, and medical skills. According to experts, games helped reduce stress and healed people with phobias, diabetes, asthma, and cardiac diseases.

Why You Should Backup Your Games

It's no secret that times are hard with the economic crisis. Playing video games is a great way to let it all go and have some great fun either alone or with your friends and family. Unfortunately, this form of entertainment is not cheap.

When you buy your video games, the least you can ask is for them to keep working and, if you like to have a nice collection, to stay in mint condition. Scratches are a very common problem and not only makes your video games lose value, but can literally prevent them from working. That... is not good.

How Gaming Technology Will Change Manufacturing

The gaming world has been revolutionized by games that track a player's natural body movements and translates them into the virtual environment. By using gesture and voice recognition, gaming consoles such as the Xbox Kinect allow players to kick a ball, shoot an arrow, and actively participate in the game by simply moving their bodies, no controller required.
Watch out manufacturing, the revolution is coming. Very soon, factory floors may start seeing gesture and voice recognition systems, combined with biometrics, which allow workers to control factory operations with natural body movements and voiced commands. A simple example of this, according to a Machine Design.com article, involves logging into workstations.
Currently, many automated factories operate off of Graphic User Interfaces (GUI's), where a worker would log in by clicking on an icon and entering a username and password. In the future, the same worker could simply step up to the work station, which would scan his retina and automatically log him in. With a simple gesture the worker could command the computer to start operations, and by holding up his hand in a "stop" gesture, halt operations. The machine could be programmed to ask for confirmations of these gestures, requiring a vocal "yes" from the operator.
So how does this technology work? A color video camera works with a depth sensor that provides a 3D perspective and a set of microphones which isolates individual player's voices. Advanced software tracks the layout of the room and player movement, monitoring movements and responding accordingly.
A biometric natural user interface (NUI) would be able to identify only the person logged into that particular machine, responding singularly to that person's gestures and movements while ignoring all other workers. Should a worker leave a workstation, it would not respond to anyone else and can even be programmed to shut down after a specified period of time.

How Gaming Laptops Are Different Than Regular Ones

Gaming laptops are simply just laptops that are designed for enhanced gaming usage. When gamers are searching for a new machine to play on, these systems are what they want. However, the market lacks a variety of already built gaming systems, leaving gamers to have to order customized systems that come with their specified configurations. Standard notebooks often come with fast processing speed, good graphics cards, extended battery life and effective cooling units, but these are still looked over in favor of a system that is built to the gamers specifications instead.

How well a game performs for a gamer on a laptop can be measured by how good the graphics card it has is. ATI and NVIDIA are two names you well encounter frequently in gaming systems. A fast processor speed is also a vital configuration. Gaming computers often use the Pentium 4 Athlon to achieve high performance.

At least 80 GB or higher is needed in the system for the best performance and the hard disk speed should be in the 5400 rpm range, if not more. For 3D games you will need at least 7200 rpm, however, and these days 3D is the most popular.

How Gaming Has Changed

From the days of the Atari system, to now, the days of the real life first person player. So interactive you literally flinch during the action as if you are really there. The realism alone is breathtaking. But there's also the cost of the games nowadays that could also give an adult sticker shock. The whole industry has grown so fast that unless you constantly immerse yourself in the latest technology of this gaming world you could find yourself light years behind. Almost everything our teenagers do today is somehow influenced by some part of the gaming world. Some of which has lead to dangerous intersections.

However, there are many people who live this dream each and every day.

I love video games, and I love money, and the two mix VERY well for this profession.
These people are called video game testers, and they work by testing out the latest video games to make sure they are in perfect working order before they are released to the hungry markets.
These people are the last step before the games are put in front of critique, so they have to do their job right.
It's not as easy as it seems, although it can be very fun.
At times, game testers have to sit for a few hours testing one aspect of the game over and over... but once it's right, they can enjoy themselves playing the greatest new video games before anyone else has the chance to even know about them!

Every gamer goes through the process of buying a new video game - playing it to boredom or completion and then moving onto the next game. For some, the retail value of £40 (~$60) for most new video games makes moving onto the next game a tricky task, making gaming an expensive hobby! This article will discuss several methods of buying/getting new video games available to gamers and consider whether video game swapping sites represent the best possible value to a gamer when moving onto a new video game.

Trading in Video Games

Trading your video game in at a local store is one method - this will often mean losing over half the value of the game you paid in the first place. And the local store is probably going to sell your video game at a markedly greater price. So the trade in value they offer you isn't going to get you very much at the store so you'll still have to contribute some extra cash to get a new game. However, this process is convenient and you have your next game in hand as soon as you're in the store!

Advantages:

1. Convenient
2. Instant

Disadvantages:

1. Low trade in value
2. Hefty mark up by retailer means you pay more cash for the next game

What Makes a Good Game, and Where Will it Lead Us From Here?

Considering the variety of different games available to us, let alone the type of games; flash, Internet, computer, video game, it's really hard to be able to say what makes a good game a good game. However, no matter how hard of a question this is, many people are still asking it. I'm sure I could list a few games I love in the console world such as Need For Speed and the ever popular Tom Clancy trilogies, but just because I may like these games, doesn't mean everyone else does! Examples of good games are out there but, they don't really answer the question at hand. All in all I think for everyone, the question; what is a good game? Comes down to a few major attributes. These attributes are included in the following paragraphs, these are of course generalizations and don't count towards or include game titles, there are merely categorical opinions.
The Game Design - In some instances you may hear people talking about the design of the game, and how it does or doesn't "work" with the game. Usually when people are talking about the design they are speaking in specifics of how the game was set up, and the rules of the game or the rules of engagement so to speak. The phrase is also expended to distinguish both the game design embodied in an actual game as well as software documentation that identifies such a design. Other attributes of the gaming design include; narrative, mechanics, visual arts, programming and audio.
Game Play - This includes all player experience during the interaction with gaming systems, particularly formal games. Appropriate utilization is coupled with acknowledgment to "what the player does". Arising alongside game evolution in the 1980s, game play was applied exclusively within the context of video or computer games, though now its popularity has begun to see use in the description of other more traditional game forms. Broadly Speaking, the phrase game play in video game language is used to identify the overall experience of playing the game omitting factors like artwork and sound!
Graphics - Back in the days of the original Nintendo and even flash based games like Asteroids, the graphics were very "blocky" of course most of didn't even realize it at the time until newer consoles like SNES and particularly XBOX and XBOX 360 came out. I think the important of graphics is more steadily sought after nowadays because people want to the best. It's been argued that the differences between XBOX and XBOX 360 are different or aren't different. Just the same, more people have bought XBOX 360 than XBOX, maybe for this reasoning alone.

Popular Electronic Games - They Are Not Just For Kids Anymore

Superheroes battle monsters and space invaders in fast action games. Players take on the role of these superheroes in epic battles. In other games players race cars, boats, motorcycles, helicopters and planes against villains and even less evil opponents to win high stakes races.

Game titles such as Burnout3: Takedown, ESPN, NHL - 2K5, Silent Hill 4: The Room, Terminator 3: The Redemption, Donkey Kong 3, and, Pokemon have joined the national lexicon as kids have flocked to the lure of electronic games.

Parents, teachers, preachers and politicians, have criticized and in some cases even banned electronic games. Electronic games have been blamed for poor grades, poor conduct and even poor health. If you listen long enough, electronic games are responsible for all of the problems our young people experience today.
One thing is certain. Kids love them. They buy and play them in ever increasing numbers. Electronic games are here to stay.

People have been trying to play games on computers almost since the days of the very first computer. As early as 1950, Claude Shannon, a mathematician and engineer, believed that computers could be programmed to play chess in competition with humans. He became intrigued with the concept of artificial intelligence. In pursuit of this idea researchers and scientists designed crude games that could be played on the huge and clumsy computers of the 1950s and 1960s.

The first actual electronic games as a consumer product were built as coin operated arcade games in the early 1970s. In 1971 Nolan Bushnell, Ted Dabney and Al Alcorn formed the first game company, Atari. Soon after they produced the first game console and their first electronic game, Pong, as an arcade game. Pong was immediately successful.

This success led Atari and other firms to begin work on home game consoles that could be hooked to TV sets. Atari released its first home console in 1977. Soon games were put on cartridges that could be changed at the whim of the player.

By 1979, the company, Activision, was formed by former Atari game designers. The purpose of this new company was to focus strictly on game software. They decided to leave the development of equipment to play electronic games to other people. This was the first company to build a business of developing and selling electronic games software.

In a short time a spate of game companies sprang up trying to develop software for the infant electronic game industry. The result was a glut of poorly conceived games hitting the market. Consumers turned away in droves and the home electronic game industry faded hit the skids.

By the early 1980s, electronic games were being developed for personal computers. Color graphics, flexible storage capacity and general purpose processors made games much easier to play on personal computers. The game console business was all but dead.

In the late 1980s, two Japanese companies introduced a new generation of game consoles that were technologically capable of handling the new electronic games being produced. These companies were Nintendo and Sega. These game consoles had graphics capabilities that exceeded those of most personal computers. Nintendo also offered a feature that let the console record the game action so a player could pause the action of a game.

Right behind Nintendo came Game Boy, a hand-held game console. Game consoles enjoyed a resurgence of popularity during the 1990s. A new, even more sophisticated generation of electronic games was introduced by 2001. These consoles included Playstation2 and Xbox. Electronic games continued to become more complex with more action and more graphics.

Electronic games, today, have achieved art form status. They are sort of a wonderful combination of board games and comic books all rolled up into one medium with spectacular graphics and compelling audio. Curiously enough, most electronic games are similar to board games. They have one of two central themes. The first is racing and the other is capturing area or opponents. Perhaps it is because of these similarities that electronic games have begun to capture a wider audience.

As electronic games have matured they have begun to attract more mature audiences. Initially these games were primarily toys for boys. The growth area in the game industry is no longer adolescent males. It is mature adults, both men and women. Many of the most popular board games have been adapted to electronic game formats. Where youngsters hooked game consoles to TV sets, adults are playing games on their PCs, often against other players across the Internet. Grandparents are playing electronic games with grandchildren. They are also joining game clubs to play electronic games on the Internet with other senior citizens in another state or half a world away. Many of the top game companies are betting that older adults are the new growth market for the game industry.

Claude Shannon believed that computers could be programmed to play chess. In a sense he was right. He certainly never imagined chess players reaching across cyberspace as they exercise chess strategies on computerized game boards. Nor could he have imagined video poker, Internet casinos and all of the other popular electronic games people of all ages are playing. Electronic games aren't just for kids anymore.
